MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud) said on Monday that former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who was convicted earlier in the day on bribery charges, will always be identified with the violent eviction of the residents of Amona in 2006.
While he did not go so far as to say that Olmert’s actions in Amona resulted in him being punished by being found guilty, Feiglin said, “Olmert is the prime minister who saw how Sharon stopped investigations against him using destruction and expulsion, and decided he wanted to do the same. Later on, Olmert started a war so he can come out a winner and give a boost to his plan [to evict Jews from Judea and Samaria].”
