By Moshe Feiglin
On Monday, the State of Israel became the first state to formally recognize the Aramean nationality. It is now possible for Arameans in Israel to register as such in their Israeli ID cards. “Hasn’t the time come,” remarked MK Moshe Feiglin, “to allow Jews to also register as Jews in their Israeli ID cards? Since the Oslo Accords, Jewish nationality on Israeli ID cards has been replaced by an asterisk in an empty space. At least according to Israel’s ID cards, we are an unidentified nation of all its citizens.”
“Return to Jewish identity and restoration of Jewish nationality to Israel’s ID cards – in the broadest sense – is the mission of our generation,” said Feiglin. “On a personal level, this must be the first task of the incoming Interior Minister.”
