UNESCO has announced that the Cave of Machpelah in Hebron and the Tomb of Rachel in Bethlehem are “Occupied Palestinian territory”. We hear a lot of bluster from Netanyahu and the rightist ministers, all for internal consumption. But they are incapable of even authorizing an elevator to allow the disabled to enter the Cave of Machpelah. Recently, a disabled person who fell and was injured while trying to ascend the steps to the Cave of Machpelah passed away. The rightist politicians are experts at patriotic slogans for the elections while actualizing leftist policies so that they can remain in their Knesset seats.
