by Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger
Mission
The enhancement of Israel’s national security and US-Israel strategic cooperation through a fact-based critical analysis of the complex reality of the Middle East, while exposing wishful-thinking and oversimplification of US-Israel relations, Jewish-Arab demography, Iran’s Ayatollahs, the Palestinian issue, Islamic terrorism and the Middle East at-large.
Activities and Achievements
< Not preaching to the choir, but reaching out to US and Israeli policy makers, legislators and their staffers, public opinion molders, political movers and shakers, research institutes, Jewish and Christian organizations and additional multipliers, irrespective of ideology.
< Hatikvah’s focus is on “What’s in it for the USA,” rather than “What’s in it for Israel,” underscoring the mutually-beneficial, two-way-street of US-Israel cooperation, and the fact the US does not extend foreign aid to Israel, but makes an annual investment in Israel, which yields to the US taxpayer an annual return-on-investment of several hundred percent.
< Underlining the benefits to the USA of Israel’s control of the mountain ridges of Judea and Samaria and the Golan Heights, while the proposed Palestinian state (and its intra-Arab rogue track record) would undermine US interests and advance the interests of US’ adversaries and enemies.
< Changing Israel’s public debate on Jewish-Arab demography, exposing the myth of the “Arab demographic time bomb” and highlighting the unprecedented momentum of Israel’s Jewish demography.
< Exposing the gap between the embracing Arab talk and the indifferent-to-negative Arab walk on the Palestinian issue, and the reality of the Palestinian issue, which is not the crux of the Arab-Israeli conflict, neither a top/positive Arab concern, nor a core cause of regional unrest, as proven by the Abraham Accords.
< According to Prof./Ambassador Itamar Rabinovitz, who headed Israel’s peace negotiation with Syria, Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger’s briefings of US legislators shifted the parameters of the debate on/off Capitol Hill from a focus on Israeli – to American – interests, emphasizing the adverse impact of an Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights on US interests.
< Highlighting the 400-year-old roots of the unique US-Israel nexus, which transcend politics, diplomacy and strategic accords and precede the establishment of the USA and Israel.
< Highlighting the clear and present threats to the USA, posed by Iran’s Ayatollahs, and the failed “diplomatic option,” which has dominated US policy toward the Ayatollahs since February 1979. This has yielded a robust tailwind to the Ayatollahs’ anti-US terrorism, drug trafficking and proliferation of advanced military systems in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
< Articulating the case that the enhancement of Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge advances US interests.
< Addressing target audiences through English and Hebrew weekly briefs/articles, short videos, TV and radio interviews, lectures and briefings and 3-5 annual visits to the US, which leverage Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger’s 50-year-experience as a Middle East researcher, diplomat, lecturer, writer, consultant to US and Israeli legislators and media commentator in the US and Israel.
