The attempt to keep the Jordan Valley under Israeli control after Minister Livni announced in the Knesset that we are negotiating over Jerusalem looks quite pathetic. Livni is not the problem. Neither is Netanyahu. The problem is that we have gotten used to thinking in terms of existence, alone – without giving any thought to our destiny.
But without a clear goal and destiny, mere existence dissipates. If we do not have Jerusalem, we will not have the Jordan Valley – or Tel Aviv (and vice versa). Israel needs leadership that has its legs firmly planted in existence, while its head is in our destiny. Israel needs faith-based leadership.
